Summary based on 1 source
Wilburn "Lil Wil" White Jr., aged 42, was found dead on August 31, 2008, in Fort Worth, Texas. The circumstances surrounding his death were indicative of foul play, leading investigators to classify the case as a homicide. Despite early investigative efforts by the Fort Worth Police Department (FWPD), the case eventually went cold. It has since been added to the growing number of unsolved homicides in Fort Worth, which includes over a thousand cases dating back several decades.

Wilburn White's death remains part of the backlog managed by FWPD's Cold Case Unit. The process of moving a case from active investigation to cold status occurs once the detective initially assigned to it either retires or leaves the unit. At that point, the case is transferred to a single cold case detective tasked with managing and pursuing new leads across numerous unsolved cases.

Unfortunately, like many other cold cases in Fort Worth, the case of Wilburn White has yet to receive the breakthrough needed to bring justice to his family. Advances in DNA technology and continued efforts by both the FWPD and community members provide hope that someday this tragic case may be resolved. Cold case detectives rely on new evidence, technological advancements, or tips from the community to revisit and pursue these cases, which is crucial for seeking closure for the families involved.
