On a Saturday evening in Beaumont, Texas, a conflict simmering with personal history erupted into a fatal act of violence, ending the life of 43-year-old Kenlyn Clifton Faulk on August 15, 2026. The tragic events began with a disturbance at a location separate from the final scene, reportedly involving Faulk, his ex-girlfriend, and another man. This initial confrontation set the stage for a deadly encounter later that night.
Around 9 p.m., police were dispatched to a residence in the 3900 block of Broadmoor after receiving calls about shots being fired in the neighborhood. Upon their arrival, they discovered Faulk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to St. Elizabeth Hospital, but the severity of his injuries proved too great, and he was pronounced dead. Faulk, a father of ten children, was remembered as a family man with a personality and style all his own, who worked hard as a plant worker to provide for his loved ones.
The investigation into the shooting moved swiftly, aided by modern police technology. Detectives learned that a suspect, described as wearing a white shirt, black pants, and glasses, had fled the scene with a woman in a grey Chevrolet Malibu. Using the city's Real-Time Crime Center, officers were able to track down the vehicle within about 30 minutes of the shooting. The woman driving the car cooperated with authorities, telling them where she had dropped off the male suspect. Police proceeded to a location in the 5800 block of Cole Road, where they found a man matching the suspect's description. The man, identified as 25-year-old D'onte Lawrence, was taken into custody. Investigators also recovered a handgun at that location which matched the caliber of the weapon used in the shooting.
During an interview with detectives, D'onte Lawrence admitted that he was the one who had shot Kenlyn Faulk. Following his confession, Lawrence was arrested and formally charged with murder. He was subsequently booked into the Jefferson County Correctional Facility, where he is being held on a $500,000 bond. The case against Lawrence is now in the hands of the judicial system. An autopsy was ordered by a Jefferson County Justice of the Peace to officially determine the cause of death.
