On November 27, 2016, 54-year-old Rufino Perez was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds on the 5500 block of Carson Street in Denver's Montbello neighborhood. The incident occurred early in the morning, and despite investigations, no suspects have been identified. Perez's murder was one of several violent incidents in Denver during the Thanksgiving week of 2016, adding to the city’s concerns over rising violence at the time.
