In the early morning hours of April 27, 2006, a night that began with the energy of a college party in Knoxville's Old City ended in tragedy. Edwin Joe Todd Jr., a 23-year-old male, was fatally shot in a parking lot, his life cut short just ten days after his birthday. Known to his friends as 'Shaq' because of his love for basketball, and to his family as 'JR,' he was a caring older brother who had moved from Chicago to attend college in Knoxville.
