In a tragic and bizarre incident in Knoxville, Tennessee, a man lost his life in what was initially believed to be a self-inflicted accident. Anthony Hickman, a 34-year-old White/Caucasian male, died on July 7, 2022, from a single gunshot wound. The shooting occurred at an apartment on Gaston Avenue, where the initial report to the Knoxville Police Department suggested that Hickman had accidentally shot himself.
However, a thorough investigation by the Violent Crimes Unit uncovered a
different and disturbing sequence of events. According to their findings, 42-year-old Keysha Hall was present at the scene and was holding the firearm when it discharged. Investigators learned that Hickman had told Hall that the gun was not loaded and had asked her to place it in his mouth. Hall complied, and upon pulling the trigger, the gun fired, inflicting the fatal wound.
Following the investigation, Keysha Hall was taken into custody and faced multiple charges in connection with Hickman's death. She was charged with reckless homicide for her role in the shooting. Additionally, due to a prior robbery conviction in 2017, which legally prohibited her from owning a firearm, she was also charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. Hall was subsequently booked into the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility.
