In the summer of 2009, concern grew for 58-year-old Rebecca B. Pruitt when she failed to answer her phone. A family member, accompanied by a neighbor, went to check on her at her home at 5054 Bull Run Road in Nashville, Tennessee, on the morning of Thursday, July 9th. Upon entering the residence around 10:00 a.m., they made a tragic discovery. Rebecca was found deceased on her bedroom floor.
Investigators from the Nashville Police Department determined that Pruitt, a female, had been strangled. The evening before her body was discovered, neighbors had seen her in her yard at approximately 8:00 p.m. Her death was ruled a homicide, launching an investigation into who was responsible for her death.
Despite the ongoing investigation, the case grew cold over the years. As of now, there have been no arrests made in connection with the murder of Rebecca Pruitt, and no suspects have been publicly identified. Her case remains an open and unsolved homicide listed with the Nashville Police Department's Cold Case Unit. Authorities continue to ask for anyone with information regarding her death to come forward.
