Juan F. Piedra was a 24-year-old White man who was killed in Nashville, Tennessee, after a late-night confrontation that turned into a moving ambush. In the early hours of Sunday, July 26, 2009, he and friends became involved in a fight at a nightclub. Not long after, the group left together in a yellow Ford F-150, heading out around 1:00 a.m., trying to put the chaos behind them.
But the night didn’t let go. As the pickup traveled down Nolensville Road near Hopedale Drive, a dark-colored SUV followed close behind, tracking them through the darkness. Then the SUV opened fire on the moving truck, turning the roadway into a sudden, violent crossfire. Piedra, seated in the passenger seat, was struck and fatally wounded in the attack.
