On July 30, 2017, Kevin Jefferson, age 47, was shot and killed during a robbery at Riverview Park in Memphis, Tennessee. Jefferson's death was investigated as a homicide by the Memphis Police Department. His passing highlighted a broader issue of rising crime rates in Memphis, especially during that time. Jefferson succumbed to his injuries after being attacked during the robbery.
