On September 6, 2020, Markel Alexander, a 50-year-old man from Memphis, Tennessee, was found shot to death near Gill Avenue and Pillow Street, close to St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church. The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m., and Alexander was pronounced dead at the scene.
