On November 4, 1998, Keiryo Mizuno, along with his wife Midori Mizuno, tragically lost their lives in Daly City, California, as a result of a deliberate fire set by an unknown arsonist. The fire engulfed the large multi-unit apartment building located on Poncetta Drive, where the couple lived in unit #230. Overwhelmed by the heavy smoke, both Keiryo and Midori were unable to escape in time and died from smoke inhalation before rescuers could reach them.
