On November 10, 1987, 13-year-old Michelle Matteucci was tragically murdered in Daly City, California. She was last seen around 3:30 p.m., walking home from school after getting off a bus with her classmates near the intersection of Callan Boulevard and Morton Drive, close to her home. Later that evening, around 10 p.m., her partially clothed body was discovered in a backyard on Morton Drive. Michelle had been strangled, and investigators believed there was a sexual motive behind the crime.
