In the summer of 2007, a burst of gunfire on a West Philadelphia street tragically ended the life of 19-year-old Samuel Brown, a Black male from Drexel Hill. The fatal encounter occurred on the evening of Sunday, June 24, 2007. When police responded to a call at the intersection of 63rd Street and Columbia Avenue, they discovered Brown and an 18-year-old companion, both suffering from gunshot wounds.
