Sergeant Patrick C. McDonald, aged 30, of the Philadelphia Police Department, was tragically shot and killed on September 23, 2008. He was on patrol when he stopped a vehicle occupied by two men. When asked for identification, the passenger provided a false name. Sergeant McDonald asked the suspect to exit the vehicle, but the suspect fled on foot.
