In the late afternoon of a Thursday in March 2008, the Manchester neighborhood of Pittsburgh was shaken by a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a young man. Richard White, a 23-year-old male, was gunned down just a half-hour after students at the nearby Manchester PreK-8 School had been dismissed for the day. The sound of gunfire rang out around 3:10 p.m., drawing a swift response from police.
