In the late hours of a summer evening in Pittsburgh's Homewood neighborhood, the life of Maurice Youngblood, a 38-year-old Black male, was tragically cut short. On August 3, 2017, the sound of gunfire pierced the night, prompting a response from Pittsburgh police who were alerted by a gunshot detection system at approximately 11:12 p.m. Arriving at the 7300 block of Kelly Street, officers discovered Youngblood critically injured, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
