In the early evening of May 1, 2016, a sense of unease lingered in the air of Pittsburgh's Perry South neighborhood. That feeling would soon turn to tragedy with the violent deaths of 19-year-old Gerald Harris and 20-year-old Isha Tyree, both from the nearby community of West Mifflin. The double homicide unfolded at the intersection of Divinity Street and Clayton Avenue, forever altering the lives of their families and friends.
Harris, a Black male, was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds inside a desolate, abandoned house. Across the street, Tyree was found shot in her car.
The events leading up to the fatal encounter remain shrouded in some mystery, though a chilling glimpse into Tyree's final moments was shared publicly. Just before the shooting, she had posted a video to Snapchat, expressing her apprehension about the unfamiliar surroundings and the cars that were passing by.
