On August 16, 2011, gunshots echoed through Rhine Place, and when police arrived around 10:10 p.m., they discovered Beasley outside his residence with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

One resident reported hearing as many as eight to ten gunshots, a terrifying experience that had them diving to the floor for safety.
