In the winter of 2020, a 15-year-old Black male named Saabir Mack from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was fatally wounded in a shooting. On the evening of Monday, December 28, 2020, at approximately 6:38 p.m., Saabir and another individual, Frank Smith, were found inside a white Chrysler on the 1200 block of South 51st Street. Both had sustained gunshot wounds.
Responding Philadelphia Police officers transported both victims to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.
They were admitted in critical condition. Despite the efforts of the medical staff, Frank Smith succumbed to his injuries the following day, on Tuesday, December 29, 2020. Tragically, Saabir Mack passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020.
Remembered as a lovable and respectful young man who was always smiling, Saabir had dreams of becoming a rapper. His family was very important to him, and he was described as a special kid who brought joy to those who knew him.
The case of Saabir Mack's death remains an unsolved homicide. The Philadelphia Police Department has made public pleas for any information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible. Detectives urge anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward as the investigation continues.
