In the late hours of an August night in 2014, tragedy struck in the West Passyunk neighborhood of Philadelphia. On August 20th, at approximately 11:18 p.m., authorities made a grim discovery near the intersection of 25th and Manton streets. Inside a Jeep Cherokee, they found the body of 34-year-old Derrick Warren.
Warren, a resident of the 2200 block of South Beechwood Street, was found slumped over in the front seat of the vehicle.
He had sustained several gunshot wounds to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
In the immediate aftermath of the discovery, police had very few leads to pursue in their investigation into Warren's death. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remained unclear, and authorities appealed to the public for any information that might lead to the identification and apprehension of those responsible. Information was sought by the South Detectives division as they worked to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting.
