On a Thursday morning in Philadelphia, the 500 block of Allengrove Street became the scene of a grim discovery. On September 4, 2014, at approximately 10:02 a.m., police responded to a call and entered a residence to find two men who had been killed. One of the victims was 26-year-old Jalil Hoskin, a Black male who resided on Etting Street. He was found in the dining room, having been shot.
In the rear bedroom of the same home, authorities located the second victim, 27-year-old Jerrell
Ingram. Ingram had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. Emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene and officially pronounced both Hoskin and Ingram deceased.
Investigators at the scene noted that the back door of the residence had been forcibly kicked in. This detail led them to believe the attack had likely occurred sometime overnight. One initial report also indicated that one of the men may have been bludgeoned with a hammer in addition to being shot.
The case remains an open and unsolved homicide. The Philadelphia Police Department has not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the deaths of Jalil Hoskin and Jerrell Ingram. Authorities have encouraged anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
