In the quiet moments after Christmas in 2010, a Birmingham, Alabama community was shaken by the discovery of a beloved local couple, victims of a senseless act of violence. Jacky Nguyen, a male, and his wife, Nhut Phan, were found deceased on the morning of December 27, 2010, inside their business, the Top Perfect Nail salon on Bessemer Road. The couple, known for their kindness and for occasionally keeping their salon open late for customers, had been shot in the head.
The grim scene
was discovered by an employee and a customer who arrived at the salon around 9:00 a.m. Jacky Nguyen was found against a wall in the back of the salon, while his wife was in a chair in the back office. The last time they were known to be alive was about 4:00 p.m. the previous day when other employees left for the day. Investigators have considered robbery as a possible motive, speculating that someone may have taken advantage of the couple's generosity.
For over a decade, the case of Jacky Nguyen and Nhut Phan's double homicide has remained unsolved, leaving their family and community searching for answers. The tragic loss of the well-loved couple has been the subject of podcasts and continued calls for information from the public. Law enforcement has offered a reward for any tip that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case. Despite the passage of time, the hope for justice for Jacky and Nhut endures, with their daughters actively seeking to bring attention to their parents' cold case. As of now, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with their deaths.
