In the early evening of Monday, August 31, 2015, a burst of violence shattered the late summer calm on the 1500 block of South Corlies Street in Philadelphia. When the chaos subsided, two men had been shot. The incident, which occurred around 6:00 p.m., would leave one family grieving and a community searching for answers. Responding Philadelphia Police officers discovered Anthony Green, a 36-year-old Black male, inside a vehicle at the scene.
Officers acted quickly, transporting Green
to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. Despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and died later that evening. A second victim, a 28-year-old man, was also wounded in the shooting and taken to the hospital for treatment. Green was a resident of the very block where his life was tragically cut short.
The investigation into the shooting that claimed Anthony Green's life remains open. To date, no arrests have been made, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects. The Philadelphia Police Department continues to seek information from the public, hoping that even a small detail might lead to a breakthrough in the case and bring a measure of justice to a family still waiting for answers.
