In the summer of 2016, a resident of Philadelphia's East Pastorius Street, Khalid Harris, became the victim of a fatal shooting. On the evening of Wednesday, July 27, 2016, the 39-year-old Black male was on the 2000 block of Haines Street. As he was walking towards his black pickup truck, two unidentified men approached him.
The encounter turned violent when one of the men, who was armed with a gun, opened fire on Harris, shooting him multiple times.
In the aftermath of the shooting, the two assailants fled the scene in Harris's truck. Following the incident, Harris was transported by a private vehicle to Albert Einstein Medical Center. Despite the medical attention he received, Khalid Harris was pronounced dead at the hospital at 9:30 p.m.
The Philadelphia Police Department responded to the report of the shooting at approximately 8:00 p.m. and opened an investigation into the homicide. Surveillance footage from the area captured the moments leading up to the fatal shooting, showing the two men approaching Harris before one of them shot him. As of the latest available information, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Khalid Harris, and the case remains an unsolved crime. The Philadelphia Police Department has asked for the public's assistance in solving the case.
