Darrell Plowden, a 25-year-old resident of Philadelphia, was murdered in the early hours of August 1, 2016. Police responded to a call at 4:58 a.m. on the 500 block of Godfrey Avenue. When they arrived, they found Plowden with a fatal gunshot wound to the back of his head. Medical personnel arrived and pronounced him dead at the scene by 5:06 a.m.
The initial investigation indicated that a Black male was seen fleeing the scene in a tan or gold Honda Accord, which was observed
traveling the wrong way down a one-way street. Authorities have urged anyone with information related to the case to contact the Philadelphia Police Department, but the case remains unsolved.
This tragic event is part of a pattern of increasing gun violence in Philadelphia during that period. Despite the response from law enforcement, there have been no arrests, and the investigation remains open, highlighting the difficulties the city faces in curbing violent crime and ensuring justice for victims like Darrell Plowden.
