On the afternoon of November 18, 2016, a 29-year-old Hispanic male named Luis Martin Alicea was shot and killed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The incident occurred at approximately 4:11 p.m. outside of a barber shop located in the 600 block of Rising Sun Avenue. Alicea, who had just gotten a haircut, was standing with another individual when the shooting took place.
He tragically died just three days before his 30th birthday.
According to the investigation, a lone suspect approached on foot, walking south on the 3700 block of Marshall Street. The suspect, described as a thin male with a dark complexion and wearing dark clothing, turned the corner and opened fire with a handgun, striking Alicea multiple times. A second person, a 25-year-old Hispanic male, was also shot and subsequently treated at a local hospital.
After the shooting, the suspect fled the scene by running back up Marshall Street and then onto the 600 block of West Butler Street. He was last seen getting into a waiting Chevrolet Impala, which then drove away on Butler Street towards Rising Sun Avenue.
Luis Alicea, a resident of the 4000 block of J Street, was a father of five and was known to be a family man. At the time of his death, his wife was pregnant with their fifth child. Despite the ongoing investigation by the Philadelphia Police Department, no arrests have been made in connection with his murder. The case remains unsolved, and authorities continue to ask for the public's help in identifying the person responsible for this fatal shooting.
