On the night of August 9, 1997, 18-year-old Joshua Brewer was fatally shot in Portland, Oregon. He was standing with a group of friends at the southeast corner of SE Milwaukie and Powell Blvd when an altercation began with a group of unidentified Asian men. As tensions escalated, a white car pulled up, and one of the men exited the vehicle and opened fire, killing Brewer and injuring two others.
