Do you know who murdered Ocie?
On a Wednesday in early September of 1991, concern grew for 70-year-old Ocie Mae Platt when she failed to answer her phone. A close friend who lived across the street decided to call Ocie's son, Julian, after her repeated attempts to reach Ocie went unanswered. He made his way to his mother's home at 1619 N. Cincinnati Avenue in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to check on her well-being.
Arriving at approximately 3:30 in the afternoon, he found the front door to the residence locked, but the back door was open. It was upon entering the house that he made the tragic discovery of his mother's body. The authorities were called, and upon their arrival, they found evidence of a violent struggle that had transpired through three of the home's five rooms. Despite being recently ill, it was clear that the elderly woman had put up a considerable fight against her assailant.
The investigation determined that Ocie Mae Platt had died from multiple stab wounds to her chest. Interestingly, robbery did not appear to be the motive behind the brutal attack, as nothing seemed to be missing from her home. Born in Arkansas on December 29, 1920, Ocie had lived alone since the passing of her husband of over four decades, Oder Lee Platt, in 1982. Her case remains unsolved, and the Tulsa Police Department continues to seek information regarding her murder. No arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with her death.
