On the night of October 12, 2007, 29-year-old African American male Leeroy Henderson was fatally shot in the Colina Del Sol neighborhood of San Diego, California. According to the San Diego Police Department, patrol officers heard gunshots near 4800 El Cajon Boulevard around 11:18 p.m. Upon investigating, they discovered Mr. Henderson lying next to his vehicle in the east alley of the 4300 block of 48th Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Mr. Henderson had stopped to visit an apartment in the 4800 block of Trojan Avenue, while his companions waited in a vehicle parked in the alley. A white vehicle passed by twice and returned a third time as Mr. Henderson was returning to his car. Two individuals exited the suspect vehicle, and one of them fired multiple rounds at Mr. Henderson, resulting in his death. The motive for the crime remains unknown.
Mr. Henderson was born on October 15, 1977, in Little Rock, Arkansas, and worked as a janitor. He is survived by his daughters, Capresha Henderson and Marquesha Henderson; sons, Mark Henderson Jr. and DeVonte Henderson; mother, Geneva Glasco; sisters, Janet Nichols and Sharon Oliver; and brothers, Otis Howard and Michael Nichols.
As of now, there is no publicly available information indicating any arrests or identification of suspects in connection with Mr. Henderson's murder.
