Homero Macias was a 17-year-old male classified in records as “Other” race, living in southwest Oklahoma City when his life was cut short on July 16, 2012. That summer morning began like any other at the Portland House apartment complex, a cluster of buildings off Southwest 38th Street and Portland Avenue, until the quiet was broken by the sound of gunfire. Neighbors later told reporters they heard multiple shots ring out and, shaken, reached for their phones to call police.
