His red 1994 Ford Aspire was later discovered abandoned in the center parking lot of Snyder Park on November 30, 1996. Months later, on March 30, 1997, Timothy Richards’ body was found near the 18th tee at Snyder Park Golf Course, concealed beneath debris. He had suffered a fatal gunshot wound, and authorities believed that his death was a homicide. Despite significant investigative efforts by the Springfield Police Department, the case has remained unsolved. Richards' sudden disappearance and subsequent discovery left his family devastated, and they continue to seek answers about the tragic events that led to his untimely death.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) is assisting the Springfield Police Department by featuring this case as part of the state's database of unsolved homicides, in hopes of generating new leads. The visibility provided by highlighting such cold cases aims to increase the chances of receiving tips from the public, which could help bring justice to Richards' family. Authorities continue to request information from anyone who might have witnessed anything suspicious in the area during the time of his disappearance.
