On September 30, 2000, Dorothy Grant, a 79-year-old resident of Akron, Ohio, was found dead in her home on Mt. View Avenue. The incident took place after unknown suspect(s) forced entry into her residence. Grant was found unresponsive in her bedroom, and it appeared that items were taken from her home, suggesting a possible burglary motive.
