On November 11, 2002, James Hurt Jr., a 48-year-old resident of Columbus, Ohio, was found shot to death in a motel room located at 3190 East Main Street, Room 64. The crime scene revealed no significant signs of struggle, and James Hurt Jr. was discovered dead from gunshot wounds. The Columbus Police Department and Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) classified the incident as a homicide and began their investigation.
