On September 25, 2005, 53-year-old Lucious Upshaw was found dead in his vehicle, which was parked at the rear of 558 West Market Street in Lima, Ohio. The incident occurred around 11:45 p.m. when an unknown assailant approached his car and fired multiple shots, killing Upshaw instantly. At the time of the shooting, Upshaw was sitting inside his car, and the assailant's identity remains unknown.
