Reynaldo “Rey” Rodis II, a beloved brother, uncle, and prominent figure in the Las Vegas boxing community, was a man described by his sister as a great visionary who walked with purpose. At 45 years old, Reynaldo, a male, was known for putting others first, always planning not for himself but for how he could take care of everybody else. He was the owner of Red Boxing International, a boxing promotion company, and several other businesses.
Friends and family remembered him as a fighter, someone who wouldn't go down without a fight, a trait that defined both his life and his final moments.
On the morning of Thursday, October 15, 2026, that fighting spirit was tragically tested. At approximately 11:40 a.m., three armed men entered a shared business complex in the 3400 block of East Flamingo Road, near South Pecos Road in east Las Vegas. The location, which housed several businesses including a barbershop and retail spaces, was also home to one of Reynaldo's ventures, a place friends described as a quiet spot for meditation. The armed men began to ransack the shop in an attempted robbery. Reynaldo was present, along with friends. As the suspects were about to leave, Reynaldo lunged at one of them in an attempt to stop them. One of the men shot him.
Friends who witnessed the horrific event said they were terrified, thinking they would be next. They stayed by Reynaldo’s side. “We were there when he took his last breath,” one friend recalled. “I’d seen everything. We never left him.” Another friend recounted telling him not to move, but Reynaldo tried to intervene at the last minute. Officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Southeast Area Command responded to the call and found Reynaldo inside the business with a gunshot wound. They rendered aid until medical personnel arrived, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The Clark County Coroner's Office later officially ruled his death a homicide, caused by a gunshot wound to the torso.
The investigation was taken over by the LVMPD Homicide Section. Detectives learned that the three armed suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction immediately after the shooting. Police believe it was an isolated incident with no further threat to the public. Investigators were working to determine which specific business within the complex was the intended target of the robbery. Surveillance cameras reportedly captured the suspects ransacking the shop, providing a key piece of evidence in the ongoing search for those responsible.
In the wake of the senseless murder, Reynaldo's family called for justice. "We are hopeful that the suspects will be apprehended, you know, that they will pay for what they did to him,” his sister, Rochielle Jocson, said. The community of friends and loved ones who were left reeling from the loss gathered every night following his death to hold a prayer vigil, planning to continue until his service. They remembered a man who was a great uncle and brother, someone who always took care of everyone around him.
As of late October 2026, the three suspects involved in the robbery and murder of Reynaldo Rodis II remain at large. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department continues to investigate the case. Authorities have urged anyone with information about the incident or the suspects' whereabouts to come forward.
