A sweet and loving young man with a big heart, Bryce Noah Scott was remembered for his outgoing spirit and bold personality. The 23-year-old was the second oldest of four boys and shared a close bond with his brothers. His mother, Alexandria Scott, called him her "little shadow," recalling that he was a protective "mama's boy." Bryce loved his family and football, and his mother noted he was a natural athlete.
His life was cut short in a brazen daylight shooting, leaving his family heartbroken and searching for answers.
On the afternoon of Monday, October 5, 2026, Bryce was in the Arlington neighborhood of Jacksonville, Florida. Around 3 p.m., near the Catalina Apartments in the 900 block of Bert Road, shots were fired. When personnel from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office arrived, they found Bryce suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a local hospital, but the injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced dead. His mother, who learned of the shooting from a news report before knowing her own son was the victim, was left with the devastating thought that she couldn't be with him in his final moments. "I wasn't there to help him, so my son died alone," she said.
The investigation into Bryce's murder was launched by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. Detectives have not publicly identified a suspect or a motive in the killing. In the days following the shooting, Bryce's mother, Alexandria, said she was told her son had been in an argument at a nearby convenience store the day before he was killed. She believes he was running for his life when he was shot down. "Somebody saw something," she pleaded. "They saw my son running. My son was an athlete, so he was running."
In her quest for justice, Alexandria Scott partnered with the Jacksonville chapter of MAD DADS, an advocacy group that works to reduce violence, to plead for witnesses to come forward. Crushed by her loss, she has made it her mission to find who was responsible. "I just want somebody to just be accountable for what you did to my son," she expressed. "One little tip can solve this. Let my son be at peace, let me be at peace, let his brothers be at peace, let his whole family."
The community has been urged to support the family and help keep Bryce's name in the public eye. "Keep fighting," one Arlington resident said. "Honestly, the life lost does not mean the fight ends. The fight starts when the life is lost." Bryce's family and friends gathered to celebrate his life and mourn his passing at a memorial service on Friday, October 23, 2026, at the James Graham Mortuary Chapel. His obituary stated that his "beautiful memories will forever be cherished, and his presence will be deeply missed."
