Amir Rahmon Gracy Sr. was a fun and loving father of four who loved to joke and spend time with his family and friends. Born in Akron, Ohio, on June 1, 2001, to Sheronica L. Gracy and Ricky L. Taylor, Amir was a 25-year-old man who cherished his children with all his heart. He attended Colonial Preparatory Academy and Archbishop Hoban High School. His family, which included his sons, Rahmon Gracy and Amir Gracy Jr., his daughter, A’Miyah Gracy, and another son, Ty’Aire Swisher, will deeply miss him, along with a large extended family and a circle of close friends who knew and loved him.

In the early morning hours of Monday, September 28, 2026, Amir was sitting in a car with several other people outside his home in the 1000 block of Ray Street in Akron. At approximately 2:13 a.m., an unknown person approached the vehicle and opened fire. The assailant fired multiple rounds into the car, striking Amir in the torso and upper body. The shooter then fled the scene.

When Akron Police Department officers arrived, they found Amir gravely wounded and immediately rendered aid, applying a chest seal and a tourniquet until paramedics from the Akron Fire Department got there. Medics rushed Amir to Summa Health Akron, but the injuries were too severe. He was pronounced dead at the hospital at 2:45 a.m., just over 30 minutes after the shooting.

The Akron Police Department and the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office launched a homicide investigation. Detectives canvassed the neighborhood, searching for witnesses and surveillance footage that might have captured the attack or the suspect. At the scene, investigators recovered several shell casings as evidence. Lt. Michael Murphy of the Akron Police Department confirmed that police were reviewing surveillance videos from the area but stated that no suspects had been identified in the immediate aftermath of the shooting.

Amir was preceded in death by his grandfathers, James L. Preston Sr., James L. Preston Jr., and Jimmy Biddings; his grandmother, Inez M. Preston; an aunt, Roslyn Reed; and a cousin, Nino Thomas III. He leaves to cherish his memory his parents, his four children, a brother, a sister, his grandparents Catherine Gracy and Pastor Michael and Sylvia Harrison Sr., as well as uncles, an aunt, and special friends James Brown, Brendn Rooks, Marcus Rooks, and Jovan Hines, along with many other relatives and friends.

A visitation and funeral service for Amir were held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Wilkinson Funeral Home in Akron, followed by a burial at Mount Peace Cemetery.
