Summary based on 1 source
Carole Dupont, an 18-year-old woman, disappeared from Sainte-Thérèse, Quebec, on the night of December 22, 1973. She had spent part of the evening drinking with a friend, Francine Decoste, beginning at the Zodiac bar before the two went to the Hôtel Royal and then the Hôtel Blainville. Carole was known to sometimes dance at the Hôtel Blainville. She was last seen leaving that establishment with three people, described in later accounts as three men. After that, she vanished.

Nearly four months passed without Carole being found. On April 13, 1974, a resident of the Foyer Drapeau retirement home was taking a walk behind the property at 100 Chanoine-Lionel-Groulx Street when he noticed human legs protruding from a snowbank near the parking area. Police were summoned, and Carole's body was discovered at the scene. Clothing and a knife were reportedly found near the remains. Investigators believed her body had been at that location since not long after she disappeared in December.

The examination of her body revealed extensive knife injuries. Carole had been stabbed repeatedly in the torso, including two wounds to the back. She also had diagonal cuts across her thighs and an additional cut to her left breast. The condition and nature of the injuries established that she had been the victim of a violent homicide rather than an accidental or natural death.

The investigation focused heavily on reconstructing Carole's activities during her final evening and determining the identities and movements of the people who had been around her. Numerous people were questioned, including individuals connected with the bars she frequented and the circumstances surrounding her disappearance. The three people seen leaving the Hôtel Blainville with her became an important part of the timeline, but available public records do not identify any of them as having been charged with her killing.

Despite the interviews and the physical evidence recovered near her body, investigators were unable to establish a case sufficient to prosecute anyone. No arrest, criminal charge, trial, or conviction has been publicly reported in connection with Carole's murder. The Sûreté du Québec continues to list her case among its unresolved investigations under file number 179-740413-013, and authorities continue to seek information that could identify the person or people responsible for her death.
