In the quiet neighborhood of Gleneagle in Colorado Springs, a tragedy unfolded that left the community shaken. On September 7, 2026, 53-year-old Yoon Jung Shin, a Korean woman, was found deceased in her home on Nichlas Court. The grim discovery was made after a concerned neighbor requested a welfare check, having not seen Shin for several days. The presence of her estranged husband's vehicle in the driveway added to the sense of unease.
Responding to the call at approximately 9:47 AM, deputies from the El Paso County Sheriff's Office arrived at the residence. When they were unable to make contact with anyone inside, they made the decision to force entry. Before entering, a drone was utilized to conduct an initial search of the home's interior. Once inside, deputies discovered the bodies of Yoon Jung Shin and her estranged husband, 64-year-old Donald Johnson. Johnson was found with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
