Summary based on 5 sources
On the evening of August 13, 2026, in Bishopville, South Carolina, 18-year-old Ra’heem Divine Mack was killed in what law enforcement described as an ambush-style shooting. The incident occurred near the intersection of Davis Street and Dogwood Drive. Authorities reported that as the vehicle Mack was in approached a stop sign, one or more individuals opened fire. Two juveniles were also in the vehicle with Mack but were not physically harmed.

The investigation into Mack's death quickly became part of a larger inquiry into a series of violent events in Lee County. Law enforcement officials announced that they believed his killing was connected to an ongoing dispute that had led to at least two other shootings. One of these related incidents was the fatal shooting of 43-year-old Shaquander Shavon Mixon, which occurred just days earlier on August 8, 2026. Another shooting on Maple Drive on the same day was also linked to the ongoing conflict.

Within days of Ra’heem Mack’s death, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrests of three suspects. Reginald Tyrone Epps III, 19, of Lynchburg, was taken into custody on August 17, 2026. The following day, 17-year-old De'marcus Qualik Atkinson of Bishopville and 18-year-old Ty'shyn Cortilus Williams of Camden were also arrested. All three individuals were charged with one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and criminal conspiracy. The investigation into the interconnected shootings remains active, with authorities indicating that one of the suspects in Mack's murder, Reginald Epps, was also charged in connection with the earlier Maple Drive shooting.
