On a summer afternoon in the Bronx, 12-year-old Jacob Freytes was riding his bicycle, a simple childhood pleasure that ended in unimaginable tragedy on July 25, 2026. That day, at approximately 5 p.m. in the Mount Eden neighborhood, gunfire erupted in front of a bodega on Elliot Place.
