Surveillance footage from The Scott at Medio Creek apartment complex on Excellence Drive captured the harrowing moments as two individuals attempted to rob the young teenager, leading to an exchange of gunfire
that left two dead. Alvarez was rushed to the hospital but ultimately succumbed to gunshot wounds to his head and neck, his death ruled a homicide by the Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office.
The investigation, aided by the apartment complex's surveillance video, swiftly pieced together the tragic sequence of events. The footage showed 19-year-old Christian Nathaniel Lopez approaching Alvarez, followed moments later by 16-year-old Jeremiah Gavino Delgado, who was armed with a handgun and wearing a mask and gloves. As Delgado pointed the gun at Alvarez's back in an attempt to rob him, Alvarez reportedly drew his own handgun. In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, Alvarez shot Delgado.
