Glynn Wesly Thomas Jr., a 33-year-old man known to some as "4 TEEZY," was remembered by loved ones as a loving, funny, outgoing, and kind person with a hilarious sense of humor. His life was brought to a violent and sudden end in the early morning hours of a weekend in San Antonio, Texas, leaving behind unanswered questions and a community shaken by the gunfire that echoed through their neighborhood.
The night had ended, but the crowd had not dispersed.
In the pre-dawn darkness of Saturday, October 10, 2026, groups of people lingered in the parking lot of the Leaf Hookah Lounge in the 6200 block of Binz-Engleman Road. The establishment, later described by authorities as unlicensed, had already closed for the night. Around 5:52 a.m., an argument, which investigators speculated may have been over a woman, escalated with shocking speed. Two men armed with guns reportedly broke away from the crowd, and shots rang out in the parking lot. Glynn was struck by multiple gunshots to his upper body, neck, and head. He died there at the scene.
Amid the chaos, a second victim, a 37-year-old man, was discovered inside a car on the other side of the building. He had been shot twice in the upper body but survived. He was rushed to a local hospital where he was reported to be in intensive care but was alert and able to speak with authorities. Bexar County Sheriff’s deputies swarmed the area, but the assailants had already vanished. The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office later officially ruled Glynn's death a homicide.
The investigation, led by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, began immediately. Investigators detained six people at the scene for questioning. Sheriff Javier Salazar noted that one of the individuals had livestreamed the immediate, graphic aftermath of the shooting as Glynn was dying. While no weapons were found at the crime scene, a gun was later discovered in a residential yard about a mile and a half away, in the direction one of the suspects was believed to have fled. Investigators also reviewed surveillance footage which, according to the sheriff, showed someone handing Glynn a gun just before he walked toward the confrontation, though it was not known if he ever fired it.
Authorities released descriptions of two people of interest they were searching for. The primary suspect, believed to be the shooter, was described as a Black male of unknown age with possible dreadlocks, who fled on foot. He was last seen wearing a white shirt, white pants, a black belt, and a white bucket hat. A second person of interest was seen leaving the area in a black Dodge Charger that had a distinctive white driver's-side door. He was described as wearing orange shoes, black shorts, and a gray hoodie with black sleeves. The sheriff's office warned the public that both individuals should be considered armed and dangerous.
The shooting brought renewed scrutiny to the hookah lounge, which Sheriff Salazar called a "problem" location. He noted that his office had responded to several shootings there over the past year and that he would be exploring legal options against the business. Residents of the surrounding neighborhood echoed the sheriff's concerns, telling reporters that violence at the lounge was a recurring issue. One neighbor stated that hearing gunshots had become a common occurrence, and another expressed fear for her family's safety, noting that her nephew frequently walked to a store near the lounge.
As of October 2026, the investigation into the murder of Glynn Wesly Thomas Jr. remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made, and the armed individuals responsible for his death are still at large. The Bexar County Sheriff's Office urges anyone with information about the shooting or the whereabouts of the persons of interest to call them at 210-335-6000 or email a tip to [email protected]. Authorities have stressed that the suspects should not be approached.
