In the early morning hours of June 26, 2026, a gathering at a Dallas apartment complex on Linfield Road took a tragic turn, ending the life of 31-year-old Lee Womack Jr. Dallas police responded to a shooting call at approximately 2:25 a.m. and found Womack with a gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of Dallas Fire-Rescue personnel who were called to the scene, Womack succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The incident, which cut short the life of Lee Edward Womack Jr., who was born on March 14, 1995, is being investigated as a homicide.
According to preliminary investigations, an argument broke out between two men during the gathering inside one of the apartments. The altercation escalated dramatically when one of the men pulled out a firearm and shot Womack multiple times. At the scene, police identified 21-year-old Jermiah Savage as the gunman and took him into custody. Savage's arrest was initially made on an outstanding probation violation warrant for attempted aggravated sexual assault of a child.
While Jermiah Savage was transported to the Dallas County Jail, the investigation into Womack's death continued. He is being held on a $100,000 bond for the probation violation. Authorities have indicated that the shooting case will be referred to a Dallas County grand jury, which will review the evidence and decide on potential future charges related to the homicide.
