On March 8, 2016, a tragic incident occurred in Durham, North Carolina, resulting in the death of 15-year-old David Pounds. David was standing outside along with 25-year-old Timothy Stevens Jr. when a vehicle drove by and shots were fired from it. This drive-by shooting led to the fatal injury of David Pounds.

The incident took place in the 1400 block of Maplewood Drive. David's death was part of a series of homicides that occurred in Durham during that period.
