Larry Donnell Owens, a 34-year-old African American man, was tragically shot and killed on September 12, 2016, in Durham, North Carolina. The incident occurred near the intersection of East Main Street and Elm Street shortly after 7 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Owens lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
