On May 28, 2026, the life of 38-year-old Shelsy Solis Sosa was tragically cut short in what Brownsville police have described as a murder-suicide. Officers responded to a Holiday Inn located in the 600 block of Sunrise Boulevard at 12:34 p.m. after hotel staff discovered the bodies of a man and a woman in a room.
