Christopher, a resident of Amarillo, was a man who embraced life with vigor and passion. Born in Portales, New Mexico, he was a 2007 graduate of Clovis High School. His love for the outdoors, particularly rock and wall climbing, was a defining aspect of his life. This passion led him to become an entrepreneur, opening the Clovis Rock Gym in 2017, a venture into which he poured his heart and soul. He was known for his dedication to sharing his love of climbing with his hometown and for his supportive and encouraging nature. After the gym closed, he continued his career in management with Lowe's Home Improvement. Those who knew him described him as a leader, a mentor, and a devoted son and brother, with a heart even bigger than his impressive biceps.
The investigation into the tragic incident revealed a grim sequence of events. According to the initial findings by the Lubbock Police Department, it appeared that Christopher was already at the North Avenue J location when Riley Moorhead arrived. It is believed that Moorhead then shot and killed Christopher before turning the gun on himself. Moorhead was transported to University Medical Center but later succumbed to his injuries. The case, therefore, concluded as a murder-suicide, with Moorhead identified as the perpetrator.
