In the late evening of May 7, 2026, the Fort Wayne Police Department was dispatched to the 200 block of East Maple Grove Avenue around 9:50 p.m. following a report of a possible shooting. Upon their arrival, patrol officers discovered an active incident that prompted a more thorough investigation. The department's Homicide Team, Crime Scene Unit, and Air Support Unit were called to the scene to assist in gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses.
