Enoshia Ya’Quia Cromer, a 23-year-old female from Clinton, South Carolina, was killed on the night of March 29, 2026, in a shooting at Forrest Glen Apartments in Clinton. Officers with the Clinton Police Department were called to the apartment complex just before 10:00 p.m. after a reported shooting. When they arrived, they found Enoshia suffering from a gunshot wound.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Laurens County Coroner’s Office identified Enoshia as the victim and said Chief Deputy Coroner Ashley Rushton had been notified shortly before 10:00 p.m. about a death at a residence in Clinton involving a shooting victim. A forensic autopsy was conducted the next morning, March 30, and officials determined that Enoshia died from a gunshot wound. Her manner of death was ruled a homicide.
Enoshia lived on Forest Glen Drive in Clinton. She was born on July 28, 2002, to Enos Cromer and Chandra Miller. In 2019, she graduated from Hillcrest High School in Greenville, South Carolina. She later earned her Certified Nursing Assistant degree and was employed with Westley Commons Community Center in Greenwood. She left behind a young son, her parents, siblings, grandmothers, and many other relatives and friends. Her celebration of life was held on April 3, 2026, at Refuge of Worship Ministries, and she was laid to rest at Orchard Park Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Police quickly treated the shooting as a homicide and said the investigation involved multiple agencies, including the Clinton Police Department, Laurens County Sheriff’s Office, Laurens County Coroner’s Office, and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division. Investigators described the shooting as an isolated incident and said there was no known ongoing threat to the public.
The suspect identified by authorities was Jalon Nehemiah Dendy, also reported as Jalon Dendy. After police and assisting agencies worked to locate him, Dendy turned himself in on the evening of March 30, 2026, one day after the shooting. The Greenwood Police Department and Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the search, along with SLED and local Laurens County agencies.
Dendy was booked into the Johnson Detention Center and charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Authorities did not release further details about a possible motive, the relationship between Enoshia and Dendy, or the specific circumstances leading up to the shooting.
