A sense of unease led to a welfare check at a home on Donaldson Avenue in San Antonio, Texas, on the afternoon of April 13, 2026. The homeowner, who was out of town, had received a disturbing call from a relative suggesting a shooting had occurred inside the residence. Details emerged that prior to the discovery of Tolosa's body, Arocha had allegedly confessed to a relative that he had shot someone at the house. Investigators believe Tolosa was attempting to flee from Arocha when she was shot, as evidence suggests the chase began in the dining room and ended in the kitchen, where she was found with a bag of food in her hands.
Arocha was located and arrested on unrelated charges the day after Tolosa was found. A search of his vehicle uncovered a box of. 380 caliber ammunition, the same brand and caliber as the shell casings found at the crime scene. During questioning by police, Arocha remained evasive. However, a more chilling account of his alleged motive came from an uncle, who told investigators that Arocha claimed "Santa Muerte made him kill Tolosa." He reportedly admitted to shooting her four times in the face, while also stating that she had done nothing to provoke the attack. Aaron Arocha has been charged with murder and is being held on a $500,000 bond.
